For roughly the price of a designer three-bedroom unit in Sydney, buyers with a similar budget could snap up a luxurious cliffside villa compound in Croatia.

Bidding will soon open on an ultra-modern luxury residence, built into the side of a hill on the outskirts of the historic town of Korčula, on the picturesque island of the same name, in the south-eastern European nation.

In this new series, realestate.com.au profiles the World’s Best Homes currently on the market, from metropolitan mega mansions to secluded sprawling estates.

Dubbed the Diamond Villa, the high-end home actually comprises two villas with a total of five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, for 578sqm of internal space.

Sleek and modern décor inside flows through walls of glass to oversized terraces and infinity edge pools that take in priceless views of the Adriatic Sea and the peaceful surrounding countryside.

“Offering two luxurious villas that span three levels, this estate is the ideal destination for a group of friends or family to retreat to when looking to unwind and reconnect in utmost privacy,” listing agent Antonio Baric of Move Croatia said.

“The Diamond Villa blends the laidback lifestyle and natural beauty of the island with a contemporary home designed to entertain.”

It’s a stone’s throw from Korčula, the ferry terminal, and a world-class marina, but feels a million miles away.

The local area offers plenty of sightseeing through the medieval-era Old Town, dining at high-end Michelin star restaurants, wine tasting through local vineyards, or snorkelling at some of the best beaches in the Adriatic.

The jaw-dropping property is listed for €4.5 million (AU$6.59 million) and the virtual sale, managed by Concierge Auctions, opens on April 21, with no set reserve.

To put that into guide price into perspective, there are currently several high-end three-bedroom units in Sydney’s CBD and surrounds with similar asking prices.

“Concierge Auctions only sells the world’s finest and most unique properties,” Concierge Auctions president Chad Roffers said. “This contemporary villa compound surely fits the bill.”

The listing is the company’s first in Croatia, which has become a booming a travel hotspot over the past decade, especially among younger adventure-seekers.

But islands like Korčula are more peaceful and private, making them ideal holiday home destinations for the rich and famous.

“With its expansive indoor-outdoor design, multiple terraces, two infinity-edge pools, and endless sea views, this estate will bring the relaxed feel of the Croatian countryside right into the home,” Mr Roffers said.

The new owner has the opportunity to use the property as an income-producer, with an average daily rental of US$2400 (AU$3225) achieved in 2020.
